Lighthouse data comes from here
Buoy, Land, Airport data comes from here

Times of Day

Lighthouse data is acquired at:
      PDT: 04:40 07:40 10:40 13:40 16:40 19:40 22:40
      PST: 03:40 06:40 09:40 12:40 15:40 18:40 21:40
some lighthouses are at 30 minutes after the hour, some are 45 minutes after
Cape Mudge and Pulteney miss the first one and the last two
land station data (ie Solander Island) is acquired at 50 minutes after the hour, every hour (according to VHF WX)
buoy data is acquired at 35 minutes after the hour (according to VHF WX)
the data is posted to the internet some time after it is acquired
buoy and land data show an internet on-the-hour acquisition time
some buoy/land stations will have a one hour difference from others. This has to do with the hourly time when that particular station is updated.
WindMap collects the data from the internet at 25 minutes after the hour
this gives me the most update land station info

Reliability of Data

The buoy and land data are fairly reliable. I believe the acquisition is all automated. Lighthouse data is mostly automated but I do see wind speed errors fairly often. If one lighthouse is much windier than the others, it may well be an error.
Groups of lighthouses occasionally do not get updated on time. They may be out of date for one or more reporting periods.
In May 2013, all lighthouse data was offline for a month (the VHF WX reports were fine).
There are indicators to let you know if data is older than it should be.

Map Symbols

See the legend on the map. This should be self explanatory.
Length of arm is proportional to wind speed.

Versions

The Mouse and Tablet versions have been combined.
The new version is called the Wind version.
The Wind version starts in tablet mode if your browser width is less than 600 pixels or if the browser height is less than 400 pixels. Otherwise it starts in mouse mode. You can toggle between mouse mode and tablet mode via the ⇔ button.
Mouse mode shows station info when the mouse is at a station.
Tablet mode shows station info when you tap a station. Tap the info box to remove it. Drag the info box to move it on the screen.
Mouse mode lets you use the Tab key to cycle through the stations.
Click the mouse on any station to change the sequence.
Use Shift Tab to cycle backwards.
